Full answer

A 20x25x2 is a two-inch pleated filter, about 19.5 × 24.5 × 1.75 inches in real life. This page is only the MERV 13 slice of that size. On 27 Oct 2026 we read six MERV 13 listings on Amazon and the Nordic Pure MERV 13 packs on nordicpure.com (via Awin). The cheapest per filter was the Aerostar 6-pack at $87.99 ($14.67 each), then the Nordic Pure 3-pack on Amazon ($44.15, $14.72 each), the Filterbuy 6-pack ($88.98, $14.83 each) and Nordic Pure’s own 12-pack ($179.99, $15.00 each). The Aerostar 12-pack was $188.99 ($15.75 each), so it cost more per filter than the 6-pack that night. Nordic Pure’s direct 3-pack was $48.99 ($16.33 each), the Filterbuy 4-pack $67.96 ($16.99 each) and the Filterbuy 3-pack $61.98 ($20.66 each). All MERV levels: the parent 20x25x2 size page.

Why MERV 13?

MERV 13 catches more fine particles (smoke, some bacteria, fine dust) than MERV 8 or 11, per the EPA MERV table. A 2-inch filter has more pleat area than a 1-inch panel, so MERV 13 usually adds less airflow resistance than it does in a thin slot. If your system is older or the filter clogs fast, check it monthly and change it when it looks gray.

A 20x25x2 will not fit a 1-inch slot, and it leaves a gap in a 4-inch cabinet. Measure the old filter first: how to measure.

FAQ

Is 20x25x2 the same as 20x25x1? No. A 20x25x2 is about 1.75 inches deep and a 20x25x1 is about 0.75 inches deep. Buy the depth printed on your current filter.

Which pack is cheapest per filter? On 27 Oct, the Aerostar 20x25x2 MERV 13 6-pack ($14.67 per filter).

Is the 12-pack always cheaper per filter? No. On 27 Oct the Aerostar 12-pack ($15.75 each) cost more per filter than the Aerostar 6-pack ($14.67 each). Compare the per-filter line on each card.

Why is the real size smaller than 20x25x2? Filter sizes are rounded “nominal” sizes. The actual frame is about half an inch smaller so it slides into a 20×25 slot.
