20x22x1 MERV 13: pack prices & where to buy

Printed size is 20x22x1 (same panel as 22x20x1). This page is only the MERV 13 slice of that size. 20x22x1 is a less common 1-inch size: the Honeywell Store does not sell it, and the MERV 13 option we can price is the Nordic Pure MERV 13 factory 4-pack, 6-pack and 12-pack (sold on nordicpure.com; Buy buttons go through Awin). Nominal 20×22×1 is larger than the cut panel: Nordic Pure prints about 19.5 × 21.44 × 0.75 (19½ × 21 7/16 × ¾), while Filtrete 20x22x1 listings (MPR 700 / MPR 1000) print 19.81 × 21.81 × 0.81. Filtrete is the snugger of the two. This is not a 20x20x1 (two inches short) or a 20x25x1 (three inches too long). Measure and compare brands on the parent 20x22x1 size page.

Nordic Pure MERV 13 4-pack $65.49 ($16.37/filter), 6-pack $89.99 ($15.00/filter) and 12-pack $179.99 ($15.00/filter) are the one-time purchase prices re-read on nordicpure.com on 6 Oct 2026 (4- and 12-pack dollars unchanged since 29 Sep; same dollars as the parent 20x22x1 page). Each card shows its own last check date; a date is only moved when the factory cart price is actually re-read. Subscribe-and-save is a separate option and is not the card price. Honeywell Store: no 20x22x1 product — the Ultra Efficiency MERV 13 20x22x1 4-pack and 12-pack product URLs returned 404 on honeywellstore.com and honeywellconsumerstore.com on 6 Oct 2026, and neither store sitemap lists a 20x22x1 filter. No Target or Amazon Buy card: we have not found a Filtrete MERV 13 (MPR 1900) 20x22x1 listing with a readable price, and we do not print a price we have not checked. No Filterbuy chart scrapes.

What MERV 13 means here

MERV is ASHRAE 52.2, as summarized by EPA. MERV 13 is the band EPA cites as ≥50% capture of 0.30–1.0 µm, ≥85% of 1.0–3.0 µm, and ≥90% of 3.0–10.0 µm. A 1-inch MERV 13 is not HEPA. We do not claim health outcomes. Higher MERV adds resistance: a 1-inch MERV 13 typically drops more pressure than MERV 8 or 11 in the same slot. EPA’s upgrade language is to pick at least MERV 13, or as high a rating as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if you are unsure. Actual size by brand

Copied from manufacturer or merchant product copy already cited on the parent 20x22x1 page, not from a competitor size chart.

Switching from Filtrete (19.81 × 21.81 × 0.81) to Nordic Pure (19.5 × 21.44 × 0.75) gives you about 0.3–0.4 inch more side play and a thinner frame. That is normal for a 1-inch rack, but if the slot is loose enough that air can whistle around the edges, push the filter to one side so the gap is on one edge only and keep the door or grille closed tight. Fit and fan notes

• Face area: a 20x22x1 has 440 square inches nominal (about 3.1 sq ft) — a bit more than a 16x25x1 (400) and less than a 20x25x1 (500). That is a mid-size single return; MERV 13 resistance is spread over less media than on a 20x25x1.
• Airflow arrow: point it toward the blower (into the furnace or air handler), the same as any pleated filter.
• Odd size, so check the old frame: 20x22x1 is often found in return grilles and older air handlers. If your old filter says 20x22x1 but the grille opening measures closer to 20×20, it is a return grille question, not a different filter.
• Watch for signs the fan is struggling: a filter bowing toward the blower, whistling at the grille, or rooms that heat or cool noticeably slower after switching to MERV 13. If that happens, go back to MERV 8 or 11 and ask an HVAC technician.
• Change interval: plan on checking a 1-inch MERV 13 monthly at first; dust, pets, and smoke events load finer media faster. See how often.

• Nordic Pure MERV 13 4-pack vs 6-pack vs 12-pack: $16.37 vs $15.00 vs $15.00 per filter — the 6-pack and 12-pack both save about $1.37 per filter over the 4-pack (the 12-pack about $16.48 over 12 filters vs three 4-packs). Two 6-packs ($179.98) cost the same as one 12-pack ($179.99), so the 6-pack gets the lower per-filter price with half the upfront spend. At a 3-month change, a 4-pack is about a year, a 6-pack about a year and a half, and a 12-pack about three years of single-slot changes.
• Nordic Pure MERV 8 in the same size: the parent 20x22x1 page lists the MERV 8 4- and 12-packs if MERV 13 is more than your system wants.
• Filtrete: the 20x22x1 Filtrete listings we found are MPR 1000 (MERV 11) and MPR 700 (MERV 8). We have not found a Filtrete MPR 1900 / MERV 13 20x22x1 listing with a readable price, so there is no Filtrete card here.
• Honeywell: not sold in this size by the Honeywell Store.

When not to buy MERV 13 in 1-inch

• The furnace or air-handler manual calls for a lower MERV (or a named brand/grade below 13). Follow the equipment, not a search query.
• An HVAC technician says the fan cannot take the extra pressure drop of a 1-inch MERV 13.
• The slot is a 4-inch (or 5-inch) media cabinet. A 1-inch MERV 13 is not a 4-inch media cartridge.
• You actually need 20x20x1 or 20x25x1 — different printed sizes. A 20x25x1 will not fit a 20x22x1 rack, and a 20x20x1 leaves a two-inch gap that air bypasses.
• Pets / allergies pressure is real, but choking the fan is worse — start from pets / allergies and how often.

If you are unsure, ask an HVAC technician. EPA’s wording is at least MERV 13 or as high as the fan and slot can accommodate — not “always MERV 13 in every 1-inch rack.”

Is 22x20x1 the same filter as 20x22x1?

Yes. Same panel, axes swapped. Order 20x22x1 (or 22x20x1) and check the 1-inch thickness.

Can I use a 20x20x1 or 20x25x1 instead?

No. A 20x25x1 is three inches too long to slide in, and a 20x20x1 leaves a two-inch gap that lets dirty air bypass the filter. Buy the printed size on your old filter frame.

Why is there no Honeywell card?

The Honeywell Store does not sell a 20x22x1 — its 20x22x1 MERV 13 product URLs return 404 (checked 6 Oct 2026).
