25x25x1 MERV 13: pack prices & where to buy

Printed size is 25x25x1 — a square 1-inch-class filter. This page is only the MERV 13 slice of that size. 25x25x1 is a less common size: the Honeywell Store does not sell it, and the MERV 13 option we can price is the Nordic Pure MERV 13 factory 2-pack, 3-pack, 4-pack and 6-pack (sold on nordicpure.com; Buy buttons go through Awin; Nordic Pure does not offer 12- or 24-packs in this size). Nominal 25×25×1 is larger than the cut panel: Nordic Pure prints about 24.5 × 24.5 × 0.75 (24½ × 24½ × ¾), while Filtrete 25x25x1 listings (MPR 700 / 1000 / 1500) print 24.81 × 24.81 × 0.81 (some 24.69 square). Filtrete is the snugger of the two. This is not a 24x24x1 (an inch short on both sides) or a 20x25x1 (five inches narrower). Measure and compare brands on the parent 25x25x1 size page.

Honeywell Store: no 25x25x1 product — the Ultra Efficiency MERV 13 25x25x1 4-pack and 12-pack product URLs returned 404 on honeywellstore.com and honeywellconsumerstore.com on 7 Oct 2026, and neither store sitemap lists a 25x25x1 filter. What MERV 13 means here

MERV is ASHRAE 52.2, as summarized by EPA. MERV 13 is the band EPA cites as ≥50% capture of 0.30–1.0 µm, ≥85% of 1.0–3.0 µm, and ≥90% of 3.0–10.0 µm. A 1-inch MERV 13 is not HEPA. We do not claim health outcomes. Higher MERV adds resistance: a 1-inch MERV 13 typically drops more pressure than MERV 8 or 11 in the same slot. EPA’s upgrade language is to pick at least MERV 13, or as high a rating as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if you are unsure. Switching from Filtrete (24.81 square) to Nordic Pure (24.5 square) gives you about 0.3 inch more side play and a slightly thinner frame. That is normal for a 1-inch rack, but on a square filter that size the gap can let air slip around the edges: push the filter to one corner so the gap is on two edges only, and keep the door or grille closed tight. Fit and fan notes

• Face area: a 25x25x1 has 625 square inches nominal (about 4.3 sq ft) — more than a 20x25x1 (500) or a 20x30x1 (600). A big single return spreads MERV 13 resistance over more media than a smaller slot, which helps, but it is still a 1-inch pleat.
• Square, so orientation is only the arrow: 25x25 has no long side to get wrong. Point the airflow arrow toward the blower (into the furnace or air handler).
• Check the old frame: 25x25x1 is common in ceiling and wall return grilles. If the old filter says 25x25x1 but the grille opening measures closer to 24×24, it is a return grille question, not a different filter.
• Watch for signs the fan is struggling: a filter bowing toward the blower, whistling at the grille, or rooms that heat or cool noticeably slower after switching to MERV 13. If that happens, go back to MERV 8 or 11 and ask an HVAC technician.
• Change interval: plan on checking a 1-inch MERV 13 monthly at first; dust, pets, and smoke events load finer media faster. See how often.

• Nordic Pure MERV 13 2-pack vs 3-pack vs 4-pack vs 6-pack: $20.50 vs $17.33 vs $14.50 vs $15.00 per filter. On the 7 Oct prices the 4-pack is the lowest per filter — about $6.00 per filter less than the 2-pack and $0.50 less than the 6-pack. One 4-pack ($57.99) costs less than two 2-packs ($81.98). At a 3-month change, a 4-pack is about a year of single-slot changes, a 6-pack about a year and a half.
• Nordic Pure MERV 8 in the same size: the parent 25x25x1 page lists the MERV 8 2- and 6-packs if MERV 13 is more than your system wants.
• Filtrete: the 25x25x1 Filtrete listings we cite are MPR 700 (MERV 8), MPR 1000 (MERV 11) and MPR 1500 (MERV 12). We have not found a Filtrete MPR 1900 / MERV 13 25x25x1 listing with a readable price, so there is no Filtrete card here.

When not to buy MERV 13 in 1-inch

• The furnace or air-handler manual calls for a lower MERV (or a named brand/grade below 13). Follow the equipment, not a search query.
• An HVAC technician says the fan cannot take the extra pressure drop of a 1-inch MERV 13.
• The slot is a 4-inch (or 5-inch) media cabinet. A 1-inch MERV 13 is not a 4-inch media cartridge.
• You actually need 24x24x1 or 20x25x1 — different printed sizes. A 25x25x1 will not fit a 24x24x1 rack, and a 24x24x1 in a 25x25x1 slot leaves about an inch of gap that air bypasses.
• Pets / allergies pressure is real, but choking the fan is worse — start from pets / allergies and how often.

If you are unsure, ask an HVAC technician. EPA’s wording is at least MERV 13 or as high as the fan and slot can accommodate — not “always MERV 13 in every 1-inch rack.”

Can I use a 24x24x1 or 20x25x1 instead?

No. A 24x24x1 is about an inch short on both sides and lets dirty air bypass the filter, and a 20x25x1 is five inches too narrow. Buy the printed size on your old filter frame.
