• Resideo product pages for FC313R2020/U and FC313R2025/U state the line lasts up to three times longer than a standard one-inch filter under normal household conditions, and fits most one-inch ceiling or wall mount return grilles.
• Published static pressure drop on those product pages: 0.177 in. w.c. at 295 FPM (MERV 13). Resideo High-Performance Return brochure 50-8985 also notes an FC313R initial pressure-drop figure of 0.12 in. w.c. at 1.5 CFM per sq. inch (compare FC40R MERV 10 at 0.12 in. w.c. at 2 CFM per sq. inch in the same literature family).

How to find and identify an FC313R

1. Locate the return grille — large wall or ceiling grate. Turn the system fan off before opening if the grille is hard to hold.
2. Open the grille — latches, clips, or screws. Support the filter so it does not fall into the duct.
3. Look for a top-hat profile — a thin face that seats in the ~1″ grille with several inches of media hanging into the duct. That is the FC313R / FC40R class, not a flush 1″ panel.
4. Read the model on the frame — FC313R2020 (20×20×3) or FC313R2025 (20×25×3) when printed. Sister MERV 10 models are FC40R1003 / FC40R1011 on the FC40R hub. If the print is gone, measure W × H × depth of the media body and compare to the size pages.
5. Confirm it is not cabinet media — AprilAire 210/213 and Honeywell FC100A1037 are thick cartridges next to the air handler, not drop-ins for a shallow grille pocket. Full measure method: how to measure.

What NOT to do

• Do not force FC100 / AprilAire 4″–5″ cabinet media into a 1″ grille face.
• Do not substitute a 1″ flat panel (20x20x1, 20x25x1) when the old part is a 3″ top-hat — thickness and seal differ.
• Do not assume a 20x25x2 (~1.75″) fills a 3″ return-grille depth.
• Do not buy mini-split mesh or a humidifier pad for a grille return: mini-split filters · humidifier pads.
• Do not invent SKUs or dimensions — use FC313R2020 / FC313R2025 when labeled, or measure and shop the matching size page. Do not confuse FC313R (MERV 13 grille) with FC40R (MERV 10 grille) or with FC100 cabinet media.
