12x24x1 MERV 13: pack prices & where to buy

Printed size is 12x24x1 — a narrow 1-inch-class filter (some labels print it 24x12x1; it is the same panel). This page is only the MERV 13 slice of that size. Three MERV 13 lines have a real, readable price tonight: Honeywell Ultra Efficiency 4-pack and 12-pack (Honeywell Store), Filtrete MPR 1900 2-pack and 6-pack (Amazon, sold by Amazon.com), and Nordic Pure MERV 13 2-, 3-, 4-, 6-, 12- and 24-packs (nordicpure.com via Awin). Nominal 12×24×1 is larger than the cut panel: Honeywell prints 11.75 × 23.75 × 0.75, Filtrete MPR 1900 Amazon titles print 11.68 × 23.68 × 0.78, and the Nordic Pure product page listed 11.38 × 23.38 × 0.75 on 7 Oct (a JB Tools listing for the same Nordic Pure filter prints about 11.5 × 23.5 × 0.75). Honeywell is the snuggest of the three. This is not a 12x20x1 (four inches shorter) or a 14x24x1 (two inches wider). Measure and compare brands on the parent 12x24x1 size page.

Honeywell Store Ultra Efficiency MERV 13 4-pack $65.95 ($16.49/filter) and 12-pack $181.95 ($15.16/filter): product-page price read 11 Oct 2026 (in stock; same dollars as the parent 12x24x1 page). Filtrete MPR 1900 2-pack $45.99 ($23.00/filter, B00TUDHMGS) and 6-pack $66.49 ($11.08/filter, B07FNW9TNQ): Amazon US buy-box read 9 Oct 2026 (~9:06pm ET, ZIP 10001, one-time purchase, shipped and sold by Amazon.com; the 6-pack showed “Lowest price in 30 days” against a $92.66 typical price, so it may go back up). Nordic Pure MERV 13 2-pack $33.99 ($17.00), 3-pack $42.99 ($14.33), 4-pack $52.99 ($13.25), 6-pack $64.99 ($10.83), 12-pack $114.99 ($9.58) and 24-pack $209.99 ($8.75/filter) are the one-time purchase prices read on nordicpure.com on 16 Oct 2026 (the 12-pack is the same card as the parent page). Each card shows its own last check date; a date is only moved when that store’s price is actually re-read. Subscribe-and-save is a separate option and is not the card price. What MERV 13 means here

MERV is ASHRAE 52.2, as summarized by EPA. MERV 13 is the band EPA cites as ≥50% capture of 0.30–1.0 µm, ≥85% of 1.0–3.0 µm, and ≥90% of 3.0–10.0 µm. A 1-inch MERV 13 is not HEPA. We do not claim health outcomes. Higher MERV adds resistance: a 1-inch MERV 13 typically drops more pressure than MERV 8 or 11 in the same slot. EPA’s upgrade language is to pick at least MERV 13, or as high a rating as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if you are unsure. Full 8 vs 11 vs 13 table: MERV guide. Filtrete prints an MPR number — MPR 1900 is the Filtrete family labeled MERV 13, MPR 1000 is MERV 11 and MPR 700 is MERV 8; MPR is 3M’s scale, not MERV (see MPR vs MERV).

Actual size by brand

Copied from manufacturer or merchant product copy, not from a competitor size chart.

Switching from Honeywell (11.75 wide) to Nordic Pure (about 11.4–11.5 wide) gives you roughly a quarter to a third of an inch more side play. That is normal for a 1-inch rack, but push the filter to one side so the gap is on one edge, and keep the door or grille closed tight. Filtrete sits between the two. Full method: how to measure.

Fit and fan notes

• Face area: a 12x24x1 has 288 square inches nominal (2 sq ft) — about half a 20x25x1 (500). A small face area concentrates the same airflow through less media, so a 1-inch MERV 13 in a 12x24 slot adds more resistance than it would in a big return. This is the size where checking the fan matters most.
• Long side and arrow: the 24-inch side usually slides in first in a furnace rack; in a wall or ceiling grille the 12-inch side may be vertical. Either way, point the airflow arrow toward the blower (into the furnace or air handler).
• Two filters in one cabinet: some systems use two 12x24x1 filters side by side (or a pair of returns). Order one per slot and change them together.
• Watch for signs the fan is struggling: a filter bowing toward the blower, whistling at the grille, or rooms that heat or cool noticeably slower after switching to MERV 13. If that happens, go back to MERV 8 or 11 and ask an HVAC technician.
• Change interval: plan on checking a 1-inch MERV 13 monthly at first; dust, pets, and smoke events load finer media faster. See how often.

MERV 13 12x24x1 options

Per-filter math is pack price ÷ count, rounded to the cent. They are not live carts after you leave this page. Shipping, subscribe-and-save, and store-only deals will move them.

• Nordic Pure MERV 13: 2-pack $17.00 · 3-pack $14.33 · 4-pack $13.25 · 6-pack $10.83 · 12-pack $9.58 · 24-pack $8.75 per filter (7 Oct prices). The 24-pack is the lowest per filter of every card on this page; among the smaller packs the 6-pack ($10.83) is the lowest.
• Filtrete MPR 1900 (Amazon): 6-pack $11.08 vs 2-pack $23.00 per filter on 9 Oct — the 6-pack was on a 30-day-low price that night.
• Honeywell Ultra Efficiency: 12-pack $15.16 vs 4-pack $16.49 per filter (11 Oct). Honeywell is the snuggest fit (11.75 × 23.75) but the highest per filter here.
• Nordic Pure MERV 8 / Honeywell MERV 8 and 11 in the same size: the parent 12x24x1 page lists them if MERV 13 is more than your system wants.

Pack math vs cost per year: 6-pack vs 12-pack.

When not to buy MERV 13 in 1-inch

• The furnace or air-handler manual calls for a lower MERV (or a named brand/grade below 13). Follow the equipment, not a search query.
• An HVAC technician says the fan cannot take the extra pressure drop of a 1-inch MERV 13 — more likely on a small 12x24 face than on a big return.
• The slot is a 4-inch (or 5-inch) media cabinet. A 1-inch MERV 13 is not a 4-inch media cartridge.
• You actually need 12x20x1 or 14x24x1 — different printed sizes. A 12x20x1 leaves a four-inch gap, and a 14x24x1 will not fit a 12x24x1 rack.
• Pets / allergies pressure is real, but choking the fan is worse — start from pets / allergies and how often.

If you are unsure, ask an HVAC technician. EPA’s wording is at least MERV 13 or as high as the fan and slot can accommodate — not “always MERV 13 in every 1-inch rack.”

12x24x1 MERV 13 FAQ

Is 24x12x1 the same as 12x24x1?

Yes. It is the same panel with the sides listed in a different order. Buy 12x24x1 (or 24x12x1) MERV 13.

Can I use a 12x20x1 or 14x24x1 instead?

No. A 12x20x1 is four inches short and leaves a gap for dirty air to bypass, and a 14x24x1 is two inches too wide to slide in. Buy the printed size on your old filter frame.

Which 12x24x1 MERV 13 pack is the best value?

On the prices on this page, the Nordic Pure MERV 13 24-pack ($209.99, $8.75 per filter) is the lowest per filter. For a smaller order, the Nordic Pure 6-pack ($10.83) and the Filtrete MPR 1900 6-pack on Amazon ($11.08 on 9 Oct, a 30-day low) are close. Prices move, so check the cards above.

Is the Nordic Pure subscribe price on the card?

No. Cards show the one-time purchase price. Subscribe-and-save is a separate option on nordicpure.com.

How often should I change a 1-inch MERV 13?

Most 1-inch pleated filters are sold for up to about 3 months of use; finer media can load faster in dusty homes, with pets, or during smoke events. Check it monthly at first. More: how often.
