Full answer

A 16x25x3 is a three-inch-class media filter for cabinets such as the Trion Air Bear Cub and Lennox BMAC-12 / X0581. The listings on this page publish a full 3-inch depth, not the ~1.75 inches of a 2-inch filter or the ~3.6–4.4 inches of a 4-inch cartridge. On 2 Nov 2026 the cheapest MERV 13 per filter was the Nordic Pure (direct) 3-pack at $33.33 each. Next: Filterbuy 3-pack $108.99 ($36.33 each); Nordic Pure on Amazon 1-pack $42.99 ($42.99 each); Nordic Pure (direct) 1-pack $42.99 ($42.99 each). Match the depth and face of the filter you pull out.

Which cabinet do I have?
  • Trion Air Bear Cub: takes a printed 16x25x3 cartridge (Nordic Pure lists its MERV 13 version as an Air Bear Cub 266649-101 replacement). Any card on this page is sold for that cabinet.
  • Lennox BMAC-12 / X0581 or similar 16×25 3-inch rack: check the old filter’s depth; if it is about 3 inches, this is the size.
  • Old filter about 4⅜ inches thick: that is a Honeywell/Lennox 16x25x5 cartridge, not this one. Use the 16x25x5 MERV 13 page.

Measure the old filter before you order: how to measure.

Why MERV 13?

Per the EPA MERV table, MERV 13 captures at least 50% of 0.30–1.0 µm particles, 85% of 1.0–3.0 µm and 90% of 3.0–10.0 µm, versus MERV 8’s ≥20% of 1.0–3.0 µm. EPA suggests at least MERV 13 or as high as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if unsure. A 3-inch MERV 13 is not HEPA. Check it when the season changes and replace it when it looks gray.

FAQ

Is 16x25x3 the same as 25x16x3? Yes — same panel, axes swapped. Order 16x25x3.

Which pack is cheapest per filter? On 2 Nov, the Nordic Pure (direct) 3-pack ($33.33 per filter).

Can I use a 16x25x4 instead? No. A 4-inch-class cartridge is about 3.6–4.4 inches deep and will not fit a 3-inch Air Bear Cub rack. Match the depth of your old filter.

How often do I change it? Check it every season and replace it when it looks gray; sooner with pets, smoke or renovation dust. See how often to change.
