16x25x4 air filter: actual size, MERV, and price
A 16x25x4 is a four-inch media filter for a dedicated cabinet — Honeywell F100/F200 (FC100/FC200 replacements), Filtrete deep-pleat, and similar housings. It is not a 1-inch slot filter. Buy the printed size 16x25x4. The cartridge is smaller than that label, and actual depth varies more by brand than on 1-inch panels (about 3.6–4.4 inches is common). Measure the old cartridge before you order.
Same panel, swapped axes: 25x16x4. We treat 16x25x4 as the canonical label. Order 16x25x4. Do not substitute a 16x25x1. Do not mix this up with a 16x25x5 SKU: some Honeywell 4-3/8-inch replacements are sold under a 16x25x5 label.
Actual size by brand
These numbers are copied from manufacturer or merchant product copy, not from a competitor size chart. On 4-inch media, thickness is the fit: a 3.63-inch (3-5/8) “true 4-inch” pleat will not fill a Honeywell cabinet that takes 4-3/8.

If the old cartridge is Honeywell-class ~4.38 (4-3/8) thick, a Nordic Pure or Filterbuy 3.63-inch (3-5/8) pack is a different part. JB Tools’ Nordic Pure copy says a 4-3/8 Honeywell replacement is their 16x25x5 SKU at about 15.75 × 24.75 × 4.38 — that is not this 16x25x4 page. MERV 8 vs 11 vs 13 (facts only)
MERV is ASHRAE 52.2, as summarized by EPA. Higher MERV captures a larger share of smaller particles. It also adds resistance. EPA says to pick at least MERV 13 or as high a rating as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if you are unsure. A MERV 13 is not HEPA. Four-inch media usually handles MERV 11–13 with less pressure drop than a 1-inch MERV 13; that is a pressure-drop observation, not a health claim. We do not claim health outcomes.

Observed range that day: about $18–$24/filter at MERV 8 in multi-packs (the 3-5/8 Nordic Pure/Filterbuy packs sit at the low end; BestAir’s 4¼-inch Honeywell-replacement 3-pack is $24.00), $17.49–$31.33 at MERV 11 (Filterbuy 6-pack vs BestAir 3-pack — different actual depth), $26.95–$30.99 at Filtrete MERV 12, $24–$31 at MERV 13 in multi-packs. Singles cost more than multi-packs. Nordic Pure’s own site did not show a price until MERV and pack were selected; the JB Tools figures are a reseller snapshot, not Nordic Pure’s factory cart. Amazon Basics had no 16x25x4 listing that printed an actual size, so that brand is omitted. Walmart Filtrete 4-pack pages returned a bot check, so those pack prices are omitted rather than guessed.

No ranking. Stock and price change. If the slot is an odd fraction that none of these actual sizes match, measure first — that is not a 16x25x4 SKU. A 16x25x1 or 16x25x5 is not a substitute for this cabinet unless the published actual (especially depth) matches the old cartridge.
