20x20x2 air filter: actual size, MERV, and price
A 20x20x2 is a two-inch-class square furnace or AC filter. Buy the printed size 20x20x2. Do not substitute a 20x20x1. The panel is smaller than 20 inches on each face — commonly 19.5 × 19.5 × 1.75. Thickness is part of the fit: 2-inch racks take ~1¾ inch media, not a ¾-inch 20x20x1.
Honeywell Store does not list a 20x20x2 furnace filter this check. Their consumer 20×20 line is 20x20x1 (actual 19.75 × 19.75 × 0.75) and 20x20x4 cabinet media. A separate Honeywell FC20R2020 return-grille cartridge is labeled 20×20×2 with published actuals 19-3/4 × 19-3/4 face, 18-1/2 × 18-1/2 media, 2-inch depth — that is not a 19.5 × 19.5 × 1.75 furnace-slot pack. A 20x20x4 is a four-inch cabinet cartridge, not this size.
Actual size by brand
These numbers are copied from manufacturer or merchant product copy, not from a competitor size chart. Thickness is the fit problem on this size: 2-inch actual depth is typically 1.75 inches on ordinary pleated packs. A 20x20x1 will rattle in a 2-inch rack.

If you currently run Filtrete / Nordic Pure / Filterbuy (~19.5 square × 1.75) and switch to BestAir (19.75 square × 1.75), expect a snugger slide-in. A Honeywell FC20R2020 will not drop into a 19.5 × 1.75 furnace slot. Measure the old filter if the slot is tight. Full method: how to measure.

MERV 8 vs 11 vs 13 (facts only)
MERV is ASHRAE 52.2, as summarized by EPA. Higher MERV captures a larger share of smaller particles. It also adds resistance. EPA says to pick at least MERV 13 or as high a rating as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if you are unsure. A 2-inch MERV 13 is not HEPA. We do not claim health outcomes.
