A 16x25x5 is five-inch-class media for a dedicated cabinet — Aprilaire/Space-Gard, Lennox, and Honeywell 4-3/8 replacements that are often sold as 16x25x5. It is not a 1-inch slot filter. Buy the printed size 16x25x5. The cartridge is smaller than that label, and actual depth varies more by brand than on 1-inch panels (about 4.3–5.3 inches shows up under the same 16x25x5 name). Measure the old cartridge before you order.

Nordic Pure and some resellers sell Honeywell 4-3/8-inch cartridges as 16x25x5. A true 5-inch Aprilaire cabinet is a different fit — measure the old cartridge depth.

On 5-inch media, thickness is the fit: a Honeywell-class 4.38-inch (4-3/8) cartridge will not fill an Air Bear or Aprilaire slot that takes ~4.88–5 inches, and a 5.25-inch Goodman/Carrier pack will not slide into a Honeywell F100.

If the old cartridge is Honeywell-class ~4.38 (4-3/8) thick, a Filtrete AirBear 4.88-inch pack or a 5.25-inch Goodman/Carrier 16x25x5 is a different part. Filtrete Lennox 4.31 vs Honeywell 4.38 is a smaller gap, but still measure. Aprilaire’s shop lists 410/413/416 as 16x25x4 (actual 16.52 × 29.38 × 4) — that is not this 16x25x5 page. MERV is ASHRAE 52.2, as summarized by EPA. Higher MERV captures a larger share of smaller particles. It also adds resistance. EPA says to pick at least MERV 13 or as high a rating as your system fan and filter slot can accommodate, and to ask an HVAC technician if you are unsure. A MERV 13 is not HEPA. Five-inch media usually handles MERV 11–13 with less pressure drop than a 1-inch MERV 13; that is a pressure-drop observation, not a health claim. We do not claim health outcomes.
